Galilean Lutheran Church
All Are Welcome, Come As You Are
Serving in the Church and Community
The GLC congregation is active in the community and encourages members to volunteer as able. These are some areas we actively support.
Prayer Ministry
As people of faith, we believe that we are called to pray. Not that prayer itself is magical or possesses a power all its own, but that the God of infinite love and faithfulness promises to hear our prayers and desires to do what is good for all of creation. We pray as Jesus taught us to pray: that we would keep God’s name holy by our lives and conduct, that God’s will be done by us and through us (and sometimes despite of us) “on earth as in heaven”, that our daily needs will be met, that we will be enabled to forgive others as God has forgiven us, that we will stand firm in trusting God in the midst of trouble, and that God would defend us against evil. We also pray for the needs of the whole world: for good government, peace among nations and among people, for healing, guidance, and the stewardship of all creation. We believe in the goodness of the One who hears our prayers, and changes our hearts.
Contact the church office to add someone to the prayer list.
Food Bank
The Food Bank is close to the hearts of many GLC members. We have a long history of volunteering at the Food Bank which moved from the Church Food Pantry to it's current location in 1987. In 2013 the Food Bank became a separate 5013-C. A Food Bank collection container is placed the Narthex of the church, each month we have an emphasis on seasonal items, but any items are accepted.
See their website for more information about distribution days, emergency food and of course volunteering.
Garden by the Sea
GLC is honored to have Garden by the Sea, a Community Garden located on church grounds. GLC provides storage space to the garden and other support. We appreciate the value they bring to the community. Garden By The Sea has several beds dedicated to the Food Bank, this is a great opportunity for volunteering.
See their website for more information on renting a plot, garden articles or volunteering.
Music Ministry
Bell Choir practice is on Friday afternoon most of the time, see the Events Page for current time. Musicians of any level are welcome. Previously the choir was using chimes but are now looking forward to the arrival of a set of bells. The bells will allow for a greater of variety of music to be played. The group works hard to learn new music to enhance the worship service and, in the future, may be available to play at events outside the church.
Summer Vocal choir is starting, we the Events page for the time.
We are looking for other musicians especially a pianist and or organist, if you are interested, send an email to churchofficeglc1419@gmail.com or call 360-289-3313. The pianist or organist will be a paid position.

Tugboat Granny's Daycare
Located on church grounds in the old Retreat Center building, we were considering selling the building when Tugboat Granny's approached us with a request to lease the space so they could serve a larger number of children. We worked together to repair the building and make it safe for children. Now hearts are warmed with the sounds of children laughing and playing. See their Facebook account for more information.
